College 101: Navigating through the College Process
Contributed by LaShawn Myles, Youth Services Librarian
College brings a new chapter in a young adult’s life. But with all the excitement, comes new responsibility, deadlines, and processes. Couple this with navigating this process as a student with a disability. According to an article by Bestcolleges.com, “The National Federation for the Blind estimates, in 2015, 42% of blind or visually impaired individuals were in the workforce, but less than 15% had earned a bachelor's degree at an accredited higher learning institution. In contrast, more than a quarter do not finish high school.”
If you are thinking of pursuing higher education, don’t go through this process alone. Join Rondez Green, a college senior, and The Maryland Accessible Textbook Program, as they discuss “College 101: Navigating through the College Process” on December 15 th .
